I want to tell you guys about DIY bags made from clothing. Have you ever found a cute dress or top at the thrift, but for some reason or another it just cannot be salvaged enough to be worn? Or maybe you just have a lot of random clothes you can’t see being worn (because they are ancient, ugly, out of style, etc.)?

If yes, this should be a simple and fun DIY for you! I didn’t make this idea myself, and I won’t even pretend I have done this DIY, but the thrift store I go to most often always puts purchased items in DIY bags made from clothing, see below!

This must have been a long sleeve top or dress in it’s former life, but now it is a bag!
I don’t know what the sleeves looked like before, but it looks like they just lopped them off, and if you’re savvy you could sew this to make it look neater.
Then the bottom hem is just sewed together to make it a bag!

What do you think of this DIY? Would you do it? I think for some materials it could make a super cute re-usable bag for shopping, groceries, recycling, etc. Many uses, and it gives a clothing piece a new life, keeping it from the landfills!

If you want to learn about other options for recycling clothes, check out this site here for some facts and info! The more I read on the topic, the more I am convinced that we need to change our habits to help the environment and keep things out of the trash!

If you’re new here, check out this post on sustainable fashion! Also the habit of recycling or selling, or donating an item each time you get a new one-that is a topic I covered here.

Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear about how you are growing in your habits to help the environment, leave a comment or visit me on instagram!

I sell clothes and other stuff on Poshmark, Mercari, and eBay, so you can check me out on those too!
